Something has really been hitting my heart over the past few weeks, and it's time I speak my mind. A few years ago when I was heavily involved in church, I wrote a human video to a song called "Hero" by Superchick. The song talks about harrassing people and being negative examples for those who look up to us. Bullying and harrassment have become major issues in our society. I've recently seen these acts first hand. It's a heartbreaking thing to see.
People never take the other person's feelings into consideration when they constantly bash them. Even if it's for a good laugh, it's still detrimental to a person's emotions. We all have a voice. But, how we choose to use it is what matters. In the song, it talks about a boy who is being mistreated, a girl who's mistreated because she doesn't fit in, and a young boy who sees his brother doing the wrong things. The heartbreaker and violent truth is not every situation comes out all pretty and happy. Kids are taking their own lives over pointless, childish actions of their peers.
We should all be that voice that sticks up for those in need. There's a little bit of decency in all of us to step in and help handle a situation. Some of us show it more often, while others show an extreme lack of it. The point is, there are people out there hurting because of someone's childish actions. These people tend to be self righteous beyond belief, and think they can just run over and degrade anyone they please. The anti-bullying campaign is huge these days. Regardless of what someone is being bullied over, step in and be a voice for them. Everyone has a heart and feelings. I encourage you all to think about every word you say to someone. It could cost them their life. Please watch this video and I hope it shows you that your negative words towards someone could cost them their lives.
