A few weeks ago a friend and I had lunch. We discussed what exactly we use to react to situations. Is it human nature and natural instinct. Or, is it by our own choices? There are many attributes that we have that come by human nature. There are attributes we have because we made the choice to have them. In life we have decisions that need to be made. Often decisions have to me made concerning business, school, family, friends, relationships, etc. But, what exactly do we use to make those decisions? Do we make them based on our instincts and human nature or by choice?
When it comes to vital things like family, business, or school, we use pure human nature and instinct to act on things. Usually we make the right decisions because of the importance of those people or things. However, when it comes to friends and relationships. I believe we make choices based on what we want or what we think we need. Sometimes we make wrong choices and sometimes we make choices that benefit us in those situations.
A current situation I've been brought into has me convinced that this theory we came up with is totally correct. In the situation, I had rebuilt a relationship with someone whom I love and cherish with every ounce of my being. However, it wasn't necessarily in the manner I had hoped for it to be. Maybe because of past mistakes and negativity in the relationship? More than likely, that's the reason why. But, knowing things could possibly be improved is what gave me hope...only to be let down.
This is when the theory was brought up. Was it the other person's human nature to back out because the fear of being hurt or take on the task of everything again? Doubt it. I believe it's by choice. Strictly because of the things that come in a serious relationship and just not wanting to give things another shot. It may be the right thing for it not to happen right now. However, If this is an issue where human nature is concerned, then when the time is right...the other person will find their way back. It was a choice to turn from it right now. All I can hope is that human nature will kick in, they'll realize what may be better for them, and hopefully come back.
