Before I begin, let me ask that you respect my views just as I respect yours. No "bashing" needed. I do NOT support gay marriage. Why? First off, yes it is a sin. Homosexuality is a sin in general. As is lying, murder, immorality, etc. But, as a Christian and based on my beliefs I don't agree with it. It's not the homosexuality or the marriage issue that really bothers me though. It's the majority of people's lack of theological knowledge who are just spouting off uneducated posts about sinning.
To get in depth about things, some theological things should be pointed out to people who have pointlessly rambled about sinning. Romans 3:23 says, "For everyone has sinned; we all fall short of God's glorious standard." So, anyone who knows the Bible will admit that they are far from perfect. We know we're all sinners, but a true Christian doesn't deliberately sin. IF you believe in the Bible, then you try to live to it's standard to the best of your ability.
Now allow me to clear up the "sin" issue. I've seen people posting things such as tattoos, shaving, eating non-kosher meats, etc. Yes, those are listed as laws...Levitical and Old Testament laws. In those days those things were considered a sin. However, if you know the Bible then you know that in Matthew 5:17 Jesus says, "Don't misunderstand why I have come. I did not come to abolish the law of Moses or writings of the prophets. No, I came to accomplish their purpose." In other words, Jesus fulfilled those laws by living the perfect life.
They were fulfilled because he knew there would come a day that people wouldn't be able to live up to those standards. That is why salvation now goes through him. Not a priest or prophet. But, He still laid the foundation for the life that we should live. We have free will to believe what we want to. Some believe in the Bible and that Jesus is the only way to salvation. Some believe differently. It's free will and a choice we are given. The only reason I disagree with homosexuality is because sexual immorality and homosexuality is because they're listed in the New Testament laws set by Jesus and his apostles, disciples, and followers. (Ref: 1st Corinthians 6:9)
With all of that being said, despite not supporting the issue and actions and as a minister, I'm obligated to discourage those things and teach my beliefs. However, I will NOT judge a person for their beliefs or actions. I've done numerous things wrong in my life and am in no place to judge anyone. Allow me to remind you that Jesus ate with sinners and was crucified by the "religious" people. So, if you're going to state your opinion. Please do so without attempting to make points that you have no clue about. It gives non-judgemental, loving Christians a bad image.
In closing, I will not judge you for the lifestyle you live or support. My beliefs tell me to love people for who they are and not the things they do. Just because I disagree with the things, doesn't mean I'm going to judge you for doing them. I respect your views and ask that you respect mine as well. Please, please, please, just know the facts and details of the Bible before statements are made that are totally off.
Love is my religion, Christ is my King.
